The President of the Ukraine Taekwondo Union Vladimir Tsoi awarded a six-month scholarship and memorable gifts to young athletes who reached the final of the 1st Online European Poomsae Championship. Due to the quarantine, this year’s competitions were held interactively – from 4 to 10 May.
Athletes of the Kyiv club «Junior», members of the Kyiv Taekwondo (WTF) Federation – Alisa Kleimenova (7 years old) and Yevhen Biliavskyi (8 years old) – became finalists of competitions among other poomsae athletes from around the world. Alisa won bronze award among girls, and Yevhen – took 8th place among boys in the category from 6 to 8 years old. In total, more than 1200 athletes from 75 countries took part in this online Championship.
“I am very glad that such young taekwondo athletes already represent Ukraine at the international level and become finalists among the first and best. We are proud of them and wish them new victories” – Vladimir Tsoi, the Ukraine Taekwondo Union President, noted at the awarding ceremony.
Alisa and Yevhen received sports and educational gifts, and, by decision of Vladimir Tsoi, were awarded special six-month scholarships. Parents of young athletes will be able to use the monthly reward to support and develop their children in taekwondo. The young participants said that they spent three days shooting a video for the 1st Online European Poomsae Championship: they wanted to present the highest quality performance.
“I love taegeuks and freestyle. There are many strokes, blocks and movements – I can’t name all of them. But I repeat them everywhere and always: at home – or on the street, in the morning in the shower – or before bed, so that even the sound is correct”, – Yevhen Biliavskyi told.
“I like the sharpness, speed and graphics. I dream of visiting South Korea, where taekwondo was born”, – Alisa Kleimenova shared.
Kyiv Taekwondo (WTF) Federation is a Ukraine Taekwondo Union collective member.
